J. Peter Rubin, M.D., joined the University of Pittsburgh faculty after completing his training in plastic surgery at Harvard. He founded the UPMC Life After Weight Loss program, a multidisciplinary center for body contouring after gastric bypass surgery. In addition, he performs breast reconstruction and is Co-Director of the UPMC aesthetic surgery center.

Dr. Rubin has been the driving force in the creation of an adipocyte biology laboratory within the division of plastic surgery, and studies adipose metabolism and tissue engineering of adipose tissue. His other rty (IFATS).

Last, but certainly not least, Dr. Rubin is a compassionate physician who listens carefully to the goals and needs of his patients before discussing a range of treatment options who with his wife Julie and their two young children are local residents.

Medical Botox. Regions treated include glabellar crease/lower forehead, upper forehead, and crow's feet. There is no additional charge for the medical consultation necessary for Botox treatment(s). Please allow 30 minutes for a Botox appointment.

Collagen. The new collagen does not require skin testing and can be used during the first visit. Collagen can be used to fill out fine wrinkles in the skin, as well as for augmenting the lips. Treatments can range between 1 cc and 5 cc, depending on the patient's needs. There is no additional charge for the medical consultation necessary for collagen treatment. Please allow 30 minutes for a collagen appointment.

Restalyne. Restylane® is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. Restylane is a cosmetic dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the human body. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA™ or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid. Restylane maintains its shape using the body's own moisture. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is hydrophilic or "water loving." As hyaluronic acid gradually degrades, each molecule binds to more water and over time, the same volume can be maintained with less hyaluronic acid. This ability of hyaluronic acid to bind to water is what helps provide lasting results. Unlike rooster-derived hyaluronic acids and bovine collagen products, Restylane is free from animal proteins. This limits any risk of animal-based disease transmissions or development of allergic reactions to animal proteins.*Please allow 30 minutes for a restylane treatment

A general consultation provides an opportunity to discuss concerns about any area of the face or body and review both surgical and nonsurgical options for accomplishing individual goals. Dr. Rubin's policy is to deduct the consultation fee from the price of any surgical procedure a patient chooses.
